I’ve been SUED over copyright infringement

An author received a copyright infringement claim and their book was taken down, leading to a frozen account. The author states they were making over $1,600 a month with the book for the past 6 months. After getting a lawyer, the author proved the claim was false and the account was restored. The lawyer advised the author to treat their online writing as a business to protect personal assets. The author moved their writing under an LLC to separate their personal life from their business by creating their own legal publishing company. The author recommends checking out their updated Kindlepreneur article.

  • The claim WAS completely false, and it turned out that it was just a competitor wanting to knock my book off the market.
  • My lawyer pointed out that all of my personal assets had been at risk over this.
  • I immediately moved my writing under an LLC and took actions so that I would be able to legally and legitimately separate my personal life from my business.
📚 BookAddict’s Take: If you are earning significant income from your writing, it’s worth exploring legal structures to protect your personal assets from potential liabilities.
