Bookish Oscar Winners; RIP Peter Schneider

Four movies based on books or with book connections were recognized at the Academy Awards. *One Battle After Another* won six awards, including Best Picture. *Hamnet*, adapted from Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, won for Actress in a Leading Role. *Frankenstein*, inspired by Mary Shelley’s novel, won for Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Production Design. *The Singers*, based on a story by Ivan Turgenev, won Best Live Action Short Film. Romantic Roots, a romance bookstore, held its grand opening celebration. The store is located in Olympia, Wash., and also features a gift shop and floral design studio.
