Christopher Caldwell Wins Crawford Award

Christopher Caldwell has won the Crawford Award from the International Association of the Fantastic in the Arts for *Call and Response*. The award recognizes an outstanding writer’s first fantasy book published during the previous calendar year. Judges called Caldwell’s book a “powerful collection of queer joy and rage in lyrical, beautiful prose” that uses the fantastic to reveal things about the real world. The judges also named five honorable mentions: Ibi Zoboi for *(S)Kin*, Natalia Theodoridou for *Sour Cherry*, Emily Yu-Xuan Qin for *Aunt Tigress*, Caskey Russell for *The Door on the Sea*, and Martin Cahill for *Audition for the Fox*. This year’s Crawford Award received 66 submissions from more than 30 publishers.
