Here are the winners of the National Book Critics Circle Awards.
The National Book Critics Circle announced the recipients of its book awards for publishing year 2025. According to NBCC President Adam Dalva, this year’s awards occur during a moment when “the very concept of the free press is under attack.” Dalva stated the NBCC’s mission is to seek the right for its members and critics around the world to think freely and voice their opinions. Award recipients include: Arundhati Roy for Autobiography, Alex Green for Biography, and Quinn Slobodian for Criticism. Han Kang won in Fiction, Karen Hao in Nonfiction, and Kevin Young in Poetry. Neige Sinno won the Barrios Book in Translation Prize, and Nicholas Boggs won the John Leonard Prize. Elizabeth Taylor received the NBCC Service Award, Rhoda Feng received the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing, and Frances FitzGerald received the Ivan Sandrof Lifetime Achievement Award.
