Netflix’s One Piece Showrunner Adapting Monstress Into Adult Animated Series

The comic book *Monstress* is being adapted into an animated series by Amazon MGM Studios. Steven Maeda, who has worked on *One Piece*, *Lost*, and *The X-Files*, will co-showrun the project with Tiffany Greshler. The comic, written by Marjorie Liu and illustrated by Sana Takeda, is set in an Asian-inspired fantasy world. The story follows a young woman with a monster inside her as she seeks to understand her past and avenge her mother’s murder. She is joined by a talking cat and a hybrid fox/human girl amidst a war between humans and otherworldly forces.
